Work or Dissent? That Is the Question: Foggia Hosts Panel on Creative Labour, Discrimination and Freedom of Expression
Published on 29 April 2026 • News , Press release
A conference entitled "Work or Dissent? That Is the Question" will take place on Thursday 30 April 2026 at 6.30 pm at the Palazzetto dell'Arte "Andrea Pazienza" in Foggia. The event is held under the patronage of the Office of the Equality Councillor of the Province of Foggia and organised by We Hate Pink, an international transfeminist community that has long championed spaces for dialogue among professionals working in the creative, media and communications industries.
The conference marks the opening of We Hate Pink's 2026 events season, dedicated to the increasingly complex relationship between work, identity, and the right to dissent. At the heart of the discussion lies a question of growing urgency: is it possible to work without compromising one's values? Topics including precarious employment, discrimination, invisible labour and the abuse of power will be explored in an open civic debate, with the aim of transforming dissent from an isolated act into a shared, collective practice.
The panel will be chaired by Rossella Forlé, founder of We Hate Pink, and will feature four speakers with distinguished professional backgrounds in the creative and cultural sectors.
Speakers:
Assunta di Matteo — Equality Councillor for the Province of Foggia, she has been active for over twenty years in the protection of human rights and the advancement of equality in the workplace. Vice-President of the ETS S.U.D. – Solo Uguali Diritti (Equal Rights Only), she holds a doctorate and works as a clinical pedagogist and occupational psychologist. She also serves as National Vice-President of the Social Farming Network and is a specialist in social agriculture and socio-professional integration pathways for people in vulnerable circumstances.
Daria Kirpach — Illustrator born in Saint Petersburg and trained between Russia and Italy. Specialising in children's illustration, she has collaborated with leading international organisations including the British Council, Save the Children and the European Parliament. Her practice combines artistic research with a sustained engagement with social themes and a keen focus on younger generations.
Alice Gorgoglione — Activist with Koll.Era, a transfeminist, queer and antifascist self-managed political collective operating in the Province of Foggia since 2020. The collective promotes horizontal dialogue, public assemblies and grassroots action, working to build collective awareness through self-education, open debate and mutual aid.
Giulia Magaldi — Freelance Creative Director with an international career spanning New York, Miami and several European agencies. She has worked on global campaigns for brands including McDonald's, Popeyes, COACH and Under Armour. Alongside her creative practice, she teaches at schools and universities. She is also one of the curators of the RealAds exhibition, contributing to the definition of the project and its critical perspective on contemporary advertising.
The evening will also serve as the closing event of the RealAds exhibition, currently on display at the Palazzetto dell'Arte — a curatorial project that reinterprets advertising through a critical lens, challenging stereotypes and conventional visual codes.
Foggia is the first stop on a tour that will continue in Rome, Milan and London.
